Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of imaging procedures, including Computed Tomography (CT), Radiography (X-ray), and fluoroscopy (if applicable) at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position will assist with designing and implementing a regional imaging strategy, procedures, equipment, and policies. The individual will work closely with hospital administration managing their radiology teams, operations, and all radiology/imaging services equipment.

Essential Job Functions

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

  • Operate and maintain all imaging department equipment, including but not limited to X-ray, CT, C-Arm, CR reader, and PACS.
  • Perform all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocols for all imaging equipment.
  • Oversee the maintenance of radiology equipment, supplies, and materials to ensure efficient, safe, and effective services for patients, physicians, and staff.

 

Imaging Procedures

  • Perform all imaging exams in accordance with established policies, procedures, regulations, and laws, ensuring the physician on duty is notified of the results.
  • Assess the accuracy of images and oversee all technical troubleshooting and quality assurance issues.

 

Compliance and Documentation

  • Ensure and maintain required documentation for compliance with general safety, radiation safety, environmental, and infection control standards, as well as local, state, FDA, ACR, DNV, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Retain records of all analytic activities performed for a minimum of two years.
  • Maintain all required documentation, logs, charts, forms, and records in both paper and electronic formats.

 

Staff Training and Development

  • Manage personnel, including interviewing and hiring, staffing, scheduling, ensuring staff competency, conducting department in-service training, maintaining performance standards, and verifying staff licensure. (Christiana PA Market)
  • Ensure that all radiology staff are properly oriented and trained on equipment, competent in its use, and that annual competencies, certifications, licensure, and education requirements are current.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver performance management, continuing education, and training programs for Radiologic Technologists. (Christiana PA Market)

 

Clinical and Technical Support

  • Perform basic clinical procedures under the direction of the physician and/or nurse on duty.
  • Provide technical assistance and supportive patient care to assist physicians, nurses, and other technical and administrative staff in meeting the needs of individual patients throughout the facility.

 

Quality and Compliance Monitoring

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements for medical imaging and radiology safety, as well as all Radiation Safety Officer responsibilities.
  • Monitor compliance with standards, identify variances or inabilities to meet established targets, and implement actions to ensure targets are met.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

Other Job Functions

  • Attend and participates in hospital committees, as appropriate.
  • Travel to all facility locations as required.
  • Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours and provide coverage for call-ins as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED, required.
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiology Technology, required.
  • Certified as a medical radiologic technologist and/or CT machine operator as required by the state in which practicing, required.
  • Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography and Computed Tomography, required.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association, required.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in a medical imaging environment with Quality Assurance and medical imaging regulations/accreditation requirements, strongly preferred
  • Associate’s Degree in radiology, preferred.
  • 3+ years radiologic/imaging experience, preferred.
  • 2+ years of CT experience, preferred.
  • 1+ years of emergency room experience, preferred.
  • Proficiency with most X-ray/CT equipment, manufacturer’s hardware/software and PACS.
