Position Overview

Pharmacy Clinical Systems Analysts are the primary support contact for our clinical applications.  They coordinate all issues that arise during, for our clinical systems and must be up to date on Emerus policies, procedures, workflows and business operations.  The Clinical Analysts will provide Clinical Information Systems (CIS) project management and support for implementation, build and maintenance, throughout the enterprise.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead in-depth analysis of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with supported clinical systems and participates in design activities independently
  • Analyzing business operations as they relate to build decisions
  • Manage conversion projects, application/system testing and documentation of system procedures, with limited supervision
  • Maintaining emergency department and inpatient department medication formularies within pharmacy clinical systems
  • Coordinating the interface between pharmacy systems, to external systems, such as pill counters and point-of-sale
  • Coordinating the interface between pharmacy systems and dispensing hardware, such as Omnicell
  • Recognizes and Identifies ongoing educational needs and assist the training team in creation of module based training as necessary
  • Coordinating software updates and changes, reviewing and testing each new release
  • Performs user provisioning and security setup within the clinical systems, as necessary
  • Manages software updates and changes, reviewing and testing each new release
  • Provide facility go-live support, independently, and serve as point of contact for on-going production maintenance/support and troubleshooting
  • Serve as coordinator in support of all pharmacy systems upgrade and implementation testing assignments, coordinating software updates and changes, reviewing and testing each new release
  • Serve as primary liaison between end users, business and systems analysts, developers, project management, third parties, leadership and vendors.
  • Catalogs, maintains, and administers training schedule, matrix and content
  • Provides pharmacy system build, maintenance and support
  • Serve as mentor and resource to defined facility based super users and other team members in development of their skill sets and clinical application knowledge base
  • Perform pharmacy application build and training.
  • Presents and evaluates design solutions objectively and facilitate conflict resolution
  • Defines, uses and communicates design patterns and best practices in service oriented analysis, design and development
  • Develop and manage project plans for the deployment of new and/or changes to CIS applications, documenting project schedules, implementation timelines, training and go-live plans, etc.
  • Assists in maintaining Change Management Structure with all pharmacy systems used in clinical operations,
  • Collaborates with report writers to ensure clinical systems reporting meet operational needs
  • Serves as point on various projects
  • Provides clinical applications after-hour support
  • Provide customer support at a level consistent with Emerus’ standard of excellence

Other Job Functions

  • Develops education materials to support training initiatives
  • Maps detailed workflow processes and documents, standards of practice, protocols, departmental procedures and project management updates
  • Serves as a resource to senior leadership
  • Participates in best practice advisories
  • Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required.
  • Participate in on-call/after-hours support as needed
  • Overnight travel up to 70%
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Pharmacy Degree (RPh), Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPht); or relevant clinical experience, preferred
  • 2+ years pharmacy field experience, Preferred
  • 1+ years pharmacy applications experience, preferred
  • Epic or Cerner certification, preferred
  • Clinical knowledge of how various medications should be prescribed and filled, preferred
  • Clinical knowledge of how various medications should be prescribed and filled
  • Direct experience with Epic Willow or Cerner PharmNet build experience preferred
  • Experience Developing, coordinating and implementing system changes and upgrades, preferred
  • Working knowledge of Emergency Department and/or Inpatient pharmacy operations, preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
