Position Overview

The purpose of this position is to negotiate and procure supplies, material and equipment necessary for the operations of the facilities and offices. Assure that all locations are completely stocked with medical and other supplies.

Essential Job Functions

  • Procure medical supplies, equipment, and services for hospitals’ operation.
  • Follow established procurement procedures. Follow established new item request procedures to source products from primary distributors and maximize savings through GPO supplier compliance.
  • Issue orders accurately based on updated project specifications and market demands, including capital, stock, and non-stock orders.
  • Monitor order acknowledgment and deliveries: track order transmissions via GHX, PO confirmations, shipment notices, and back orders to expedite and guarantee the delivery of goods/services needed for hospital operations, new projects, or conversions.
  • Run Open PO reports to ensure timely receiving procedures in the ERP system.
  • Manage returns of damaged or incorrect materials to suppliers.
  • Keep the ERP system updated: maintain item master accuracy, item descriptions, vendor, cost, price changes, UOM quantities, and lead times.
  • Develop suppliers’ relationships to resolve discrepancies and routine issues.
  • Participate in other projects assigned by the Supply Chain leaders.
  • Create reports from ERP. Perform data analysis to understand spending trends and budget controls.
  • Perform backup duties to the Materials Manager in their absence.
  • Prevent stockouts or business stoppage due to a lack of supplies at Emerus facilities.

  • Willingness and ability to work off hours
  • Travel to all facility locations as required
  • Complete special projects as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related experience, required
  • 1-2 years' experience in a purchasing or buyer role, preferably in a medical environment
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and communications
  • Knowledge in buying, placing purchase orders, discounts, reconciling, and matching invoices.
  • Proficiency in Math and basic Accounting, required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required
  • Experience in ERP Systems, Workday preferred.
  • Experience in GHX integration and trading tools.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Emerus in a professional manner.
  • Ability to train and teach.
